Verticalnet Makeover Continues

Software vendor Verticalnet (Horsham, Pa.; www.verticalnet.com) is making another in a series of adjustents to its business model and executive suite. The company announced it will sell off its small and medium-sized supplier network of marketplaces to focus on enterprise accounts.
Verticalnet's small and medium-sized business (SMB) unit accounted for $104.5 million worth of revenues in 2000, but declined to $89.9 million in 2001. Verticalnet's enterprise revenues meanwhile, expanded from $7.9 million in 2000 to $35.6 million in 2001.
Verticalnet has remade itself from the beginning of its existence, changing focus from electronics vertical, to industry-specific website operator, to B2B e-commerce enabler, to enterprise software provider and finally, in December 2001, to developer of extended enterprise management applications. Now Verticalnet is branding itself a provider of collaborative supply chain solutions.
