Mary Kay to Implement Manhattan Associates' Supply Chain, Optimization and Collaboration Suites

Manhattan Associates (Atlanta; www.manh.com) announced a contract with cosmetics maker Mary Kay (Dallas; www.marykay.com) to implement the vendor's supply chain execution (SCE) system called PkMS across eight U.S.-based Mary Kay distribution and manufacturing facilities. Mary Kay will implement Optimize Suite, which includes aspects of business intelligence, facility optimization, labor optimization, and event processing; and Collaborate Suite, which allows real-time visibility and integration across the supply chain.
The Mary Kay product line includes more than 200 products in eight categories: facial skin care, cosmetics, nail care, body care, sun protection, fragrances, men's skin care, and dietary supplements.
"Through wave picking, we can decrease our order cycle time by grouping and picking orders together under criteria like geographic location or SKU," says Ron Gilbert, director of Mary Kay's product supply process. "And with the more detailed reporting, we can slice and dice information to the level of origin or individual. Today, we can only look at the total order shipped, but in the future, we will be able to break down the information any way we choose."
