Special Issue of Interfaces
The journal Interfaces seeks papers for a special issue on AIDS.
The issue will focus on application of OR/MS techniques for decision making
on AIDS. This includes, but is not limited to, such diverse areas as policy
analysis of preventive interventions (for example, screening and counseling
programs, educational programs, condom availability programs, needle exchange
and bleach programs, and substance abuse prevention and treatment programs),
analysis of therapies and vaccines, models for allocation of HIV/AIDS resources,
and models for individual decision making by HIV-infected individuals.
Implementation in this context will be construed broadly. Although the results
of the analysis need not have been implemented directly in an organization,
the common theme is that the work aims to promote better decision making
regarding HIV/AIDS. Thus, for example, a paper describing a purely theoretical
epidemic model would not fit within the aims of the special issue, whereas
a paper describing an epidemic model that uses actual data, that addresses
an HIV/AIDS policy question, and that has been communicated to those concerned
with policies would fit within the aims of the special issue.
All papers submitted for consideration will be refereed within four months
of receipt. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 1, 1996.
