Think Spring!
D.C. Meeting focuses on analysis to support public sector decision making
The Washington, D.C., OR/MS community welcomes you to our nation's capital
-- home of the Pentagon, government consultants and the early history of
operations research. The INFORMS Spring Meeting will be held May 5-8 at
the Washington Hilton and Towers, 1919 Connecticut Avenue, NW.
Organized around the theme, "Analysis to Support Public Decision Making,"
many influential leaders and researchers are expected to speak. David Chu
of the RAND Corp. (Omega Rho Distinguished Lecture) will give a plenary
address on resizing the federal government.
Applications sessions will feature presentations by representatives of major
corporations such as USAir, IBM, Motorola, MITRE, Federal Express and Pitney
Bowes, as well as the following government agencies: Department of Energy,
National Institute of Standards and Technology, Defense Information Systems
Agency, National Security Agency, FAA and The Office of the Secretary of
Defense.
Plan to have some fun as well. Saul Gass will serve as game show host of
the second OR/MS Knowledge Bowl. Saul will also organize a 10K race. Barbara
Balut and Jo Gulledge have planned tours of the Virginia Hunt Country and
the Hillwood Museum and Gardens. Finally, don't forget to tour the Air and
Space Museum, the Holocaust Museum and the Vietnam Memorial, or simply take
a relaxing spring stroll around the Mall.
More information about the conference may be obtained from INFORMS Online
at http://www.informs.org/ or by calling
