Lanchester Prize Call for Nominations


The INFORMS Board is now accepting nominations for the Lanchester Prize -- an annual award given for the best published contribution in operations research in the English language.

The 1996 prize (to be awarded in 1997) includes $5,000 and a commemorative medallion.Books and papers for the 1996 prize will be screened by a committee appointed by the INFORMS Board. To be eligible for consideration, the book or paper must be nominated to the committee.Among the requirements, a book, paper or group of books must:

Books or papers may be case histories, reports of research representing news results, or primarily exposition. For a nominated set (group of either articles or books) published over more than one year, it is expected that each element in the set is part of one continuous effort, such as a multi-year project or a continuously written, multi-volume book.

The committee will use the following criteria in making judgments:
