OR/MS Today INFORMS News Posted: 4/12/06 UMASS Amherst Student Chapter The University of Massachusetts Amherst Student Chapter of INFORMS is a collaboration of graduate and undergraduate students from various schools and departments at UMASS Amherst, including the Isenberg School of Management, the College of Engineering, and the Departments of Resource Economics and Mathematics and Statistics. The student chapter aims to encourage interest in the field of operations research and the management sciences while providing a means of communication, both informal and formal, concerning new research, educational programs and opportunities. The Operations Research/Management Science Speaker Series, a forum of both visiting and in-house speakers from academic and non-academic environments, has stimulated interest from faculty, students and industry representatives. The members of the INFORMS Student Chapter at UMASS Amherst organized several activities last fall, including a company visit to the Savage Arms Factories and its Supply Chain Department located in Springfield, Mass., the INFORMS Club Bowling Night, a Halloween Party and an End-of-Semester Party.
