In Memoriam:
Meir Rosenblatt


Dr. Meir Rosenblatt, a professor of business at Washington University and at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, died on Aug. 30. He was 52.

An area editor for Management Science and Operations Research, Dr. Rosenblatt was the Myron Northrop Professor of Operations and Manufacturing Management at Washington University. Professor Rosenblatt previously taught at Stanford, Cornell and Ben-Gurion University and published more than 60 articles in leading journals.

Dr. Rosenblatt earned a bachelor of science degree (1973) from Ben Gurion University/Technion, and his master's (1974) and Ph.D. (1977) from Stanford. Among his many honors, Dr. Rosenblatt received the New England Academic Award (a Technion-wide academic excellence award) "for exceptional contributions in the field of production planning and control" in 1989 and the Faculty Service Award from Stanford University's Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management in 1985.

At Washington University's John M. Olin School of Business, he was named Teacher of the Year three times, most recently in 2000.
