July 1996 Volume 6 Number 7
Letter from the Publisher
I have had the honor and privilege to be the publisher of this magazine
since it was launched in July 1991. From those early, and at times, difficult
days, I believe the magazine has grown to become a major voice for APICS
and its members. In our own way, I think we may have contributed to the
goal of the Society as it has become the leading provider of education in
integrated resource management. At the same time, you, our readers, have
told us how we can better serve your needs and it has been pleasing to hear
how much we have been able to meet them.
Passing the milestone of our fifth anniversary is both a time to reflect
on the path we have taken, but more importantly to rededicate ourselves
to meeting the challenges that lie ahead. Those challenges arise from the
highly competitive field in which the magazine operates, the rapidly changing
nature of the topics we cover, and finally, the development of the Internet
and the World Wide Web.
I believe the value of the magazine to the Society has been clearly demonstrated
and fully justifies the decision of the Board in 1990 to launch the publication
in conjunction with Lionheart Publishing. It is also my opinion that the
future potential of the magazine warrants continued support to allow for
expansion that will further increase the value of the publication to members
and other readers.
I would like to close by acknowledging the importance of the relationship
between Lionheart and APICS HQ staff and the support of such people as Mary
Ellen Kenner, Harry Schnackenberg, Barbara Gleason and Mitch Singer, to
name but a few.
Finally, I would like you all to understand the continued passion I have
for this venture and the commitment of my staff to the magazine and the
relationship with APICS. It is my belief that APICS--The Performance
Advantage will become even more successful in the future and be recognized
as the leading magazine in its field.
