A Toolkit for ISO 9000 Registration

Rising interest in ISO 9000 reflects an increased awareness of the importance of this system for assessing and evaluating quality management systems. Increasingly, firms are moving toward certification in ISO 9000 or one of its variants, such as QS-9000 which is commonly used in the automotive industry. As firms move toward the implementation of such systems, there is an increased need for training and education. After all, ISO 9000 and QS-9000 raise a number of questions and concerns in the minds of potential users. It also requires that the users understand the various requirements that this program places on them.
However, for many firms, this need for training raises another concern -- that of determining how to expose the employees to this new system without spending all of the firm's money set aside for ISO 9000 on training and education. This month we look at one solution to this training program -- a CD-based multimedia training tool from Reality Interactive. Guest reviewer Christopher Sandvig, Ph.D., points out that the product, the ISO 9000 Registration Series, offers a useful, effective and inexpensive vehicle for training users in the various aspects of ISO 9000.
