Breakthrough Learning Tables
Offer Additional Conference
Learning Experience

The continuing primary goal of APICS conferences is maximizing the attendees' learning opportunities, and APICS '97 has come up with another means of achieving that goal — breakthrough learning tables (BLTs). Conveniently located in the Exhibit Hall, 20 tables will be set up to allow an open exchange of ideas and solutions on relevant industry topics while attendees relax and dine. Two questions will be explored each day — split evenly among the tables — from Monday, Oct. 27, through Wednesday, Oct. 29. A card on each table will indicate the daily questions and act as a starting point of conversation. The questions are as follows:

Monday

  • Professional development: What is it and how does it help your career?
  • Is MRP still relevant? What are the latest "hot buttons" within your organization?

Tuesday

  • How has downsizing affected you and your company?
  • How has technology (e.g, e-mail, manufacturing software, etc.) affected your job and your life?

Wednesday

  • What is your company's corporate culture? How has it changed over the years?
  • How has your company changed in response to industry trends and competition?

"Lunch is a networking opportunity, and the BLTs will allow people to sit at a table, discuss a topic of interest with other people with similar interests and hopefully learn something of value to take back to work," said Diane Beni, CPIM, 1997 Conference Committee chair. "I hope as many attendees as possible take advantage of the BLTs."
