Supply chain management
Datalogix International Inc. has introduced software that now enables process manufacturers to exchange critical supply chain information over the World Wide Web. Customers, plants, suppliers and salespeople can now connect to Datalogix' CIMPRO applications with Web browsers to place orders, share manufacturing data and analyze sales information over the Internet. This Internet approach is more cost-effective than dedicated network connections and more efficient than voice phones and the mail. The new Web-enabled CIMPRO allows mid-sized chemical, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, biotechnology companies and other manufacturers to provide inexpensive access to their inventory, ordering and manufacturing information. CIMPRO's Web client includes performance accelerators that take advantage of the Internet's architecture. The Web client downloads and reuses critical system information, such as screen formats and dictionary elements, until changes are made to the host versions. This reduces time-consuming data transfer over the network.
