ILOG Planner  ILOG Planner 2.2, developed by ILOG Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.; www.ilog.com), is an enhanced version of the ILOG Solver add-on used by developers to build planning and scheduling applications. It is a C++ class library that combines both constraint programming and CPLEX know-how.
The new ILOG Planner applies Simplex optimizers and CPLEX expertise in
solving planning problems involving a mix of linear and logical constraints
and conflicting preferences and objectives. These problems are typically
encountered in enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications when
creating plans and schedules for personnel and material resources in the
manufacturing, transportation and telecommunications industries. ILOG
Planner 2.2 adds the power of linear programming to constraint programming,
which is well known for its modeling and search control capabilities.
Copernic 98plus Copernic 98plus from Agent Technologies Corp. (Sainte-Foy, Quebec, Canada; www.copernic.com) is a professional search agent software product that searches content-specific channels of Web sites by categorizing the most relevant sites, newsgroups and other Internet data in a given content area, such as sports or personal finance, and letting the users customize by adding or prioritizing search targets. The software has the capacity of simultaneously searching 100 of the most important engines and direct specific channels.
The initial channels that will be searchable on Copernic 98plus will
include news, sports, computers, finance, entertainment, kids, games,
shopping, software, e-mails, government, travel, newsgroups and the Web.
Copernic 98plus allows users to add their own intranets or extranets as
additional channels.
Personal Digital Recorder The Personal Digital Recorder (PDR) from Voicenet Inc. (New York, N.Y.; www.voicenet.com) is a digital audio recording software product. This recording and transcription facility comes in the form of a CD-ROM That can be used in any laptop or PC, and provides up to 76 hours of continuous audio recording time. It runs on Windows 95 platforms in both desktop and notebook configuration.
The stand-alone system, which is capable of recording and playing digital
audio and stereo from a local disk, removable hard disk or network drive,
incorporates intelligent archive and retrieval functions. The operator is
able to add annotations while recording or during playback of the audio
sessions to obtain full and immediate retrieval of specific segments.
IWB-50 The IWB-50 from Fakespace Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.; www.fakespace.com) is the latest addition to the Immersive WorkBench product family. It is a projected-image table designed to deliver hands-on accessibility to computer-generated 3D visualizations for individual users. The Immersive WorkBench is a virtual model display that supports natural interaction with computer-generated 3D imagery, and enables users to manipulate virtual objects in the same hands-on way they work with real objects on a desk or table. The IWB-50 is a smaller scale version designed for use by one or two users. The IWB-50 is based on the BARCO (Belgium American Radio Company) Baron projected-image table. Its screen measures 67" diagonally, and it incorporates a 210 ANSI lumen projector. Fakespace integrates the display with software, 3D glasses and PINCH gloves, and also proves services to integrate 3D software applications with the IWB system. |
