Intelligent Applications

Nuance Verifier

Nuance Verifier is a speaker verification system that is integrated directly with the Nuance speech recognition engine. Nuance Verifier addresses the high-level security needs required for financial services, travel and telecommunications applications. Speaker verification systems create a voiceprint based upon a speaker's voice. Callers may then be verified in the course of a phone call by comparing their voice with the voiceprint.

Financial services applications for Nuance Verifier include card/PIN reissues, funds transfers and access to high-value account information. Telecommunications companies can also take advantage of Nuance Verifier for functions such as calling-card access and reducing cellular fraud.

The integrated Nuance6 speech recognition engine enables recognition and verification to occur simultaneously. It provides an intelligent user interface that shortens the length of a call compared to a touch-tone system while offering convenient access for the end user. Nuance Verifier features dynamic decision making which stops prompting the user for speech samples once a confidence level is reached.

KORE

The KORE (Knowledge Object Relationship Environment) Framework is a highly extensible environment that adds strategic knowledge management functionality to third party applications. It helps connect disparate pieces of information residing in groupware, workflow, data warehouses, enterprise resource planning (ERP) products and other applications into a distributed knowledge management environment.

Enterprise relationships allow communities of users to seamlessly gain value from transaction-based activities and view their business, customers, competitors and partners at a holistic level. One practical application of the KORE Framework is found at a global conglomerate involved in new product development. Typical departmental organizations create valuable, but separate silos of information. Planning and strategy teams understand market demand and cost factors, engineering creates design specifications, and manufacturing translates design into real products. However, these teams often use a wide variety of systems to capture process knowledge and baseline data. With the KORE Framework, they can enable their systems to capture specific knowledge about key elements and relationships found in the product development cycle and automatically share it with others.

Readiris

Readiris 3.95 for Windows 95 and Windows NT is a multi-lingual, optical character recognition (OCR) software development tool able to recognize 32 languages. The software also recognizes two different alphabets (Russian and English or Greek and French, for instance) on the same document.

Readiris 3.95 gives access to advanced techniques of artificial intelligence used in the field of IOCR (Intelligent Optical Character Recognition). The recognition is omnifont, allowing it to recognize several fonts of various sizes mixed on the same page. Readiris 3.95 also features a new kernel to improve accuracy for touching and broken characters. Readiris supports virtually all commercially available scanners.

Actioneer

Actioneer is incorporating Dragon System's continuous speech recognition technology into some of its action-messaging products. Actioneer software provides a way for users to capture, manage and exchange action items contained in a flood of communications, such as e-mail, voicemail, the Web, meetings and documents.

With Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Actioneer users will be able to simply speak naturally to create actions to send messages to their own applications and to other people. Actioneer's speech-enabled prototype adds voice commands to replace all keyboard functions of the Actioneer action messenger. For example, from within any software application, the user can say "new contact" and a new contact dialog box will appear from Actioneer or any of the personal information managers to be supported, such as Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes or the PalmPilot Desktop.

Another key feature in Actioneer's speech implementation is the ability for the user to highlight text and through speech, link that automatically to a particular list, contact or project. The user can highlight text on a Web site and say "copy to my product ideas list and to my boss." The text is automatically filed in the appropriate product ideas list in Actioneer or their personal information manager, and an e-mail message containing the text is sent to their boss.

e-VAL

e-VAL automated valuation software is designed to help lenders obtain fast, accurate valuations on properties that don't require in-depth appraisals (such as in the case of a recent sale, a refinance of a first mortgage, or the addition of a second mortgage). Developed with the assistance of expert appraisers and university mathematicians, e-VAL combines price trending, advanced statistics, and an expert rule base. In addition, e-VAL utilizes neural network technology to help train the model.
