ExpertBleach
ExpertBleach is a real-time bleaching optimization system designed to reduce total chemical costs in the bleaching process while maintaining target brightness levels. It utilizes neural network technology to learn the bleaching process. It then compares real-time operating conditions against the learned process to predict exit brightness levels. Based on these predicted brightness levels, a genetic algorithm is used to determine the optimum chemical addition at each stage to produce the target brightness.

ExpertBleach can be operated in either a closed loop environment or in an open loop intelligent advisory mode.

KnowledgeScape
KnowledgeScape is an adaptive expert system for optimizing process performance. It is an object-oriented, platform-independent toolkit for adaptive supervisory control that allows any measurable, continuous process to be modeled and optimized on-line using intelligent software objects. KnowledgeScape objects feature a range of autonomous learning and predictive capabilities, made possible through the integration of an advanced expert system, neural networks, fuzzy and crisp logic modules, and multiple adaptive internal models.

Processes under KnowledgeScape control can be automatically optimized in real time by parameters that reflect both physical and economic performance objectives. The system is designed to support enterprise-wide deployment with a hierarchical object organization that allows optimizations to be performed simultaneously at any level.

Empirical Director
Empirical Director is a knowledge-based service level management (SLM) solution, Empirical Director. It enables IT professionals to ensure PeopleSoft, Oracle Financials and Manufacturing, data warehouse and custom applications are compliant to their established service levels agreements (SLAs). It provides managers with the reporting metrics, planning capabilities, knowledge-based diagnostics and improvement recommendations needed to address problems associated with distributed applications.

Empirical Director diagnoses problems, offers recommended solutions and generates graphical reports to control SLA compliance. It also provides planning capabilities for IT managers to perform truly proactive service level management. The problem diagnosis is performed through an application-specific knowledge engine which uses monitored data, statistical relationships and an extensive set of rules to determine how to solve application performance and reliability problems. This knowledge engine has the ability to model an application's activity, via a statistical neural network, to actually project potential service level issues. Empirical Director runs on Windows NT platforms. Pricing starts at $20,000.

Paragon Applications
Paragon Applications Suite 4.0 includes new products for collaborative planning and improved linking of enterprises with suppliers and customers via the Internet. Version 4.0 introduces flexible and rule-based available-to-promise (ATP) and capacity-to-promise (CTP), ensuring tighter coordination between an enterprise's front and back offices. The new products are ParagonGSP (Global Strategic Planner), ParagonGRA (Global Real-Time ATP) and ParagonREM (Real-Time Event Monitor). They complement and are fully unified with Paragon's other products: ParagonSCP (Supply Chain Planner), ParagonMCP (Material & Capacity Planner) and ParagonRDS (Reactive & Dynamic Scheduler).

Version 4.0 is an enterprise-wide optimization tool for strategic business planning. It performs "what if" business analysis based on actual costs and projected margins, calculates optimal product mixes, optimizes distribution and sourcing alternatives, identifies best locations for distribution centers and plants based on demand, and optimizes resource allocations. Paragon Applications will expand its Web-based agent technology to streamline multi-enterprise purchasing, supplier communication, inventory management and order fulfillment.
