Manugistics4
Manugistics4 supply chain management software includes the
Manugistics Intelligent Messenger (MIM), an intelligent messaging
solution which leverages electronic commerce capabilities --
including the Internet -- throughout the supply chain. MIM sifts
through the massive amounts of information in the supply chain and
flags important information according to user-defined rules. Advanced
Manufacturing Solution (AMS) is a real-time, constraint-based
planning and scheduling tool that is fully integrated across the
supply chain. It optimizes scheduling against real-time constraints
such as material, labor and other resources, enabling manufacturers
to solve complex scheduling problems. The Manugistics/SAP Integrator
links the software to SAP R/3, integrating execution and planning
systems at the business process level.

Scout
Scout is a family of Windows-based Internet visualization tools
designed for visualizing industrial automation applications over the
Internet and corporate intranet implementations. These tools are
client/server products that let industrial users view process
graphics and data from any remote data source -- such as InTouch
supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) applications -- for
monitoring of discrete manufacturing and continuous process
operations. Scout allows users to view factory operations at remote
sites by accessing the World Wide Web. Supervisors and managers can
use the Scout tools to view data from different parts of a factory
and display it in a single, integrated environment.

FactoryWeb
FactoryWeb is a turnkey solution that includes a preconfigured and
optimized World Wide Web server, Windows NT Server 4.0, predefined
Web pages and the add-in script functions for Wonderware's InTouch.
FactoryWeb provides "snapshots" of production information in the same
fashion that a printed report would. Utilizing Internet technologies
and custom applications, it captures plant floor information from any
InTouch man/machine interface application and publishes it to an
intranet (internal corporate network).

Value Chain Planner
Rhythm Value Chain Planner software helps companies plan the entire
production process -- from raw materials to finished goods -- by
linking an organization with its suppliers to extend the enterprise
and enable scheduling across a multiple-company supply chain. It
provides for a message-based collaborative planning infrastructure
that operates across an extended enterprise via the Internet. Its
capabilities include: vendor-managed inventory, third-party
manufacturing coordination, collaborative forecasting, and nomadic
available-to-promise and due-date quoting. Value Chain Planner links
all members of the value chain by network, so that everyone is
immediately aware of changes across the enterprise. Value Chain
Planner is part of the new Microsoft Value Chain Initiative
(see Microsoft article).

Prism
Prism 4.3 enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for process
manufacturing has been enhanced to solve the year 2000 problem.
Prism, which runs on the IBM AS/400 platform, now supports a Windows
client through the Prism Visual WorkPlace (VWP). VWP delivers Visual
Basic forms that enable integration with other desktop applications.
Customer Order Management applications offer enhanced order
processing and customer service across multiple enterprises. Prism
4.3 also includes options that allow migration tools to
object-oriented technology to be built. Price: $3,000-6,000.

CATIA-CADAM
CATIA-CADAM Solutions Version 4 release 1.7 is a process-oriented
system that allows collaborative engineering through network
computing. A new product, CATIA Conferencing Groupware, enables
design and production teams working in different locations to
collaborate across the network in reviewing, annotating and revising
CATIA designs. Users of CATIA-CADAM Manufacturing Solutions can now
choose between two approaches. The interactive programming approach
with the new CATIA Prismatic Machining Programmer allows small
companies to program basic machining operations such as drilling and
milling on simple parts. Companies which have defined their processes
in a database can opt for an assisted numerical control (NC)
definition with the existing CATIA Prismatic Machining Assistant.

Flow Manufacturing
Flow Manufacturing software provides automated support of the
manufacturing process that bonds production to specific customer
demand. With Flow Manufacturing, repetitive and other manufacturers
can change production mix and volume-on-the-fly. It incorporates
mixed model planning, mixed model line design, flow-based costing and
kanban support. Flow Manufacturing, which helps eliminate all
non-value-added activities from production, can also be integrated
with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Other features
include automatic backflushing, guided event sequencing between
inventory receipt and product shipment, and functionality that can be
extended across several manufacturing lines. Based on a replenishment
pull system, Flow Manufacturing uses "flex fences" -- the ability to
smooth production between upper and lower production limits -- and
other techniques to provide the flexibility and the agility to
rapidly shift production by line or by item to meet actual demand. It
runs on IBM AS/400 and UNIX platforms.

BHR Info.Net
BHR Info.Net is an integrated suite of Java-enabled business
applications designed for manufacturing and distribution companies.
It addresses the full spectrum of manufacturing needs, from
repetitive to configure-to-order and supports process, batch process
and make-to-stock environments. In both corporate intranet and
Internet environments, BHR Info.Net creates a Java applet on the
client that communicates with the server application via a TCP/IP
network to perform database tasks. Users can access all their data by
using standard Internet browsers. BHR Info.Net provides a company's
customers, suppliers, business partners and employees with
authorized, scaleable and secure Internet access to corporate
information. It supports Windows NT and major UNIX operating
systems.
