Yahoo! Inc.(Santa Clara, Calif.; http://www.yahoo.com) and The SABRE Group (Fort Worth, Texas; http://www.travelocity.com) have announced that Travelocity , an online travel planning site providing access to airlines, hotels and car rental companies worldwide, has been named the featured air travel booking service for Netscape Guide by Yahoo!.

Under the agreement, Travelocity will be featured as a content module on the Travel Page of Netscape Guide by Yahoo!, a personalized Internet navigation service designed to provide Internet users with a central source of sites, news and events on the Web.

Air travel booking capability through Travelocity will also be available on Netscape Guide.


CMP's TechShopper (Manhasset, N.Y.; http://www.techshopper.com), a Web-based comparison shopping resource has teamed with Classifieds 2000 — a provider of classified advertising content and distribution on the Internet — to make it easy for consumers to both buy and sell used hardware/software products.

TechShopper Classifieds features thousands of listings of used computer systems, peripherals, storage, other hardware and software products that are up for sale. The site also allows sellers to post their ads free of charge.

Classifieds can be viewed by simply browsing through the site or by using its search engine to create pinpointed queries. The site also features Cool Notify — a free, personalized shopping agent that scours new classifieds and then alerts the user via e-mail when a specific item they're looking for hits the market.


Book-of-the-Month Club, Inc., a subsidiary of Time Warner, Inc., has opened a web site at http://www.bomc.com.

During a six-month beta testing phase of the Book-of-the-Month Club website, nearly 1,100 new members joined online.

Book-of-the-Month Club provides members with quick delivery of 2,400 reviewed books which survive an editorial review process by the club's editors. Discounts of up to 60 percent are offered, and new online members will be able to purchase four books for $1.

Members will also have access to a searchable author/subject/title/keyword database, an online book discussion group, book reviews and excerpts, and author notes and profiles.


CCMusic (Chicago; http://www.ccmusic.com) has launched a new website complete with a comprehensive, searchable database of more than 31,000 music titles — 8,000 of which are in stock for immediate shipment. CCMusic is the digital version of Collectors' Choice Music, a leading catalog of re-issues on compact disc and cassette.

CCMusic is the site for imports and hard-to-find compact discs not easily found in local retail outlets or other music sites. CCMusic's menu offers an array of information to help customers make selections, including highlights of new releases and best sellers. Additionally, the site has information about special offers and a search line to find any music title. CCMusic will soon add music reviews and a music lounge for fans to chat about their favorite music.

The site also offers a 100-page quarterly print catalog featuring more than 1,500 music titles from every musical genre, including the latest and hardest-to-find collectible releases from the United States and abroad.


IBM (Somers, N.Y.; http://www.ibm.com/security) has expanded the capabilities of its e-commerce portfolio with a new product that will make it easier for customers to conduct business on the Internet more safely.

The product — the 4758 PCI Cryptographic Co-processor/Adapter — will work with security-sensitive applications like IBM's CommercePoint payment system to enable users to process volumes of Internet transactions at high speeds.

The co-processor is SET-enabled and provides maximum protection of Data Encryption Standard (DES) keys, RSA private keys and algorithms through a combination of hardware and software.
