ESD - An Idea Whose Time has

Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) has a lot of upsides
for consumers, such as free software trials, lower prices, online
product information and products that are constantly in stock. But
problems unique to electronic commerce, such as secure transaction
processing and the risk of fraud, need to be overcome for ESD to be

Off ICE '97
Killer applications of e-comm are everywhere, reported IBM's
Irving Wladawsky-Berger during his keynote address at the Internet
Commerce Expo (ICE '97): in banking, manufacturing, finance,
entertainment. He also described an emerging solution to security
problems: the cryptolope.
